Come on baby
(Don’t fear the Reaper)
Baby get in my van
(Don’t fear the Reaper)
We’ll be able to drive
(Don’t fear the Reaper)
Baby it’s not a sedan
Spotted on 16th and Church

Who doesn’t love cheese? (Aside from vegans, and we all know they don’t count.) Even hippies from San Francisco love cheese, as seen in this 1997 TV spot for Real California Cheese.
You know that fantastic mural of a tiger on 15th and Valencia? The one on the side of Pica Pica?
Well, it’s gone.
Sad day indeed. Goodbye, tiger.
UPDATE: Walked by today, saw this. Don’t get me wrong, this is obviously skilled work; but it’s really generic compared to what was there before.
Recently, an anti Sit/Lie activist created and placed public benches around the city. These guerrilla benches are made out of recycled wood pallets, and come with a manifesto wheat-pasted onto a nearby utility pole.
Interestingly, San Francisco’s sidewalks once had public benches. But they were removed a decade ago. Why? Well the reasons sound very familiar if you paid attention to the Sit/Lie arguments: homeless people and drug addicts used the benches. (I guess the next step will be to remove the sidewalks, since homeless people have been known to use those.)
Anyhow, if you’d like to use a guerrilla bench, there is one by the abandoned building at 15th and Mission.
Only true software engineers and cheesy 80’s movie buffs will understand this one, so proceed at your own risk.
Git/Lost Boys joke: “Are you rebasing? Inquiring minds want to know.” #nerdhumor
Next to the lengthly-named San Francisco Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Community Center is a construction site that has not seen much activity in recent years. It’s become a bit of an eyesore, with a giant pit surrounded by a fence, and a massive (and expensive-looking) crane stand tall above the site.
Due to recent rain, the pit has begun to fill up with water. I’ve dubbed this mosquito-breeding ground Lake Market, after the street it borders. With a bit more rain, perhaps we can all go for a boat ride on Lake Market.
The former site of Artist Xchange on 16th St. is now painted black and papered over, and will soon become yet another overpriced t-shirt store.
This is great news for people who enjoy buying expensive t-shirts, but are bored of shopping at Candystore, HANGR 16, Skunk Funk, NO, Nooworks, Density, or any of the other dozen or so similar clothing shops located within a stone’s throw of 16th and Guerrero.
You can get an idea as to the inventory of products (which the designer seems to mistakenly believe are artistic) here.
Travel, movies, comedy, tech, and whatever I find on the streets of San Francisco.
